Spring: First meeting
Lesley and Peter first met during their second semester of senior year at Boston College. They were brought together at Roggie’s, a local bar, by David, one of Lesley’s best friends at school, who had studied abroad with Peter in Madrid.
After making that initial connection, they started messaging on Facebook to plan another time to get together. In one of those chats, Peter shared his summer experience studying and practicing archaeology and when Lesley expressed great interest, that’s when they knew they had uncovered something special.

March: First official date at Navy Pier
For Lesley’s 23rd birthday, Peter flew out to Chicago from Boston for what was their first official date. They spent the day seeing some of Chicago’s best attractions, which culminated at Navy Pier. There, Peter asked Lesley for permission for a kiss! Little did they know at the time that there would be another question asked at the same spot 6 years later.

November: Lesley moves to Boston
2014 was a year of big change. After a couple years of dating long distance between Chicago and Boston, Lesley changed careers and cities, moving to Boston to begin a new job as a product designer at HubSpot, the same company Peter started at the year prior. Lesley found a cute little apartment in Boston’s North End (Little Italy); the same neighborhood Peter was living in. And thus began the next chapter of their relationship, sharing the same city full-time.

June: Iceland adventures, baby lambs, and retirement plans
In June, Peter and Lesley explored the breathtaking country of Iceland, driving the southern half of the island over the course of 10 days. From mountains to wildlife, and from waterfalls to even more waterfalls, they shared some of the most spectacular sights in nature either of them had ever seen.
Peter became one with the purple wildflowers, and Lesley experienced what may be her happiest moment to date (they’re hoping they can top this feeling in July, but it sure will be tough!)
It should come as no surprise, since that trip they both now aspire to retire to Iceland in 40 years to start a baby lamb/baby corn farm.

May: Popping the question
In May, Peter in Lesley were in Chicago for Peter’s friend Mark’s wedding. The next day, they went to brunch with their parents who met for the first time. Afterward, Peter lured Lesley into going to Navy Pier under the guise that they were meeting some friends to show them the sights. Peter got off a call with his friend Jerry who was “running late” to meet us. Lesley was getting really impatient so Peter suggested they take a ride on the ferris wheel to pass the time.
They thought they were going to get an entire gondola car to themselves, but to Peter’s dismay, two young women beat them to it. Lesley was confused why Peter was oddly flustered by this since the cars were big enough to seat at least 10.
At the top, the ferris wheel paused so everyone could take in the beautiful view. Lesley was holding Peter’s hand which had grown nice and clammy. Despite the unintended audience, Peter ignored his nerves and seized the moment. He got down on one knee and asked a very different question than the one he asked on their first date in 2012.
Lesley is pretty sure she actually said yes, but she kind of maybe blacked out for a second.
